Re-imagining Communal Play + Space

Dec 2021

A project-based workshop where children Re-imagined Communal Play + Space, exploring what makes a playground space fun and memorable.

Working in small groups, children are encouraged to be creative in their findings as they apply Design Thinking principles in understanding the needs and challenges of who they are designing for. Importantly, children are encouraged to think of ways to keep their playground accessible to children (and adults) of all abilities, allowing inclusive play for all.

Children also explored different types of structural framing systems that could be introduced as key features in their playground design. They brainstormed ideas in their respective group and drew them in plan before getting hands-on in the making and building of their dream playground.
