On the first 2 days at camp, learn all about Buckminster Fuller’s Geodesic Dome, the benefits of a Biodome and how it supports the Rainforest Ecosystem. Learn the topics of Science, Math, Art & Architecture in the process of building up your own Biodome structure and design your own Rainforest environment. Children will have lots of fun building up their own unique Geodesic Biodome.
From day 3 at camp, children will start a project-based workshop Re-imagining Communal Play + Space exploring what makes a playground space fun and memorable. Working in groups, children are encouraged to be creative in their findings as they apply Design Thinking principles in understanding the needs and challenges of who they are designing for.
Children are encouraged to explore ways to keep their playground accessible to children (and adults) of all abilities, promoting inclusive play for all. Children will also be exploring types of structural framing systems that could be introduced as key features in their playground design; as they brainstorm and get hands-on in the design, making and building of their ultimate dream playground.
DesignTinkers camps are specially curated and led by instructors who are experienced architects with the passion and experience working with young children to nurture their creative interests. Camps are held in our spacious and conducive classroom for kids to create freely and explore various make-and-build activities.
